Family / Vintage Scrapbooks

Last week, I was blessed to spend 4 days scrapbooking with a fabulous daughter, a great cousin,  and 14 wonderful friends!  Most fun ever scrapbooking!

I worked on a vintage album.  Losing my mother to Alzheimer’s in 2016 made me think a lot about family!  How lucky I was to have a treasure trove of photos - and luckier still, that my mother and grandmother had written names and dates on the back of them!

Here is my first sample.

These four photos were pasted into a scrapbook by my grandmother - all were from the 40’s.  Her scrapbook was extremely simple - black pages, some photo corners, and a lot of paste!  I tried to stay true to my grandmother’s simple style.  I think that the photos speak for themselves!

Hello, Baby!

So excited for my niece, who is expecting her first child this spring.  It’s a boy!  This little card was a snap, using the Cricut and my Big Shot.  I embossed the word, “baby”.  Love the dimension that heat embossing adds.

Of course Pinterest helped with the idea!

Crochet is a very fun hobby! A friend recently gave a star shaped baby blanket as a gift ... I liked the idea so well that I copied it!

Newborn Hope - A Mini Album

A few years ago, I was fortunate enough to attend a luncheon that supported a great organization, “Newborn Hope”!  One of my daughters worked on the committee that hosted the event;  it was a very special day!

As always, I love flowers and ribbon!  The centerpieces looked like Scrabble letters so I tied to use tiles on the front page, and throughout my album.

I used a heart shaped Chipboard album. I painted it white and used red ink over the paint, then chose papers to match the theme of the day.

The album was a gift to my daughter, in celebration of a successful day!

State Fair!

I love the State Fair - so much fun.  And the rides for the little ones -- great to see how excited they are!  I am still working on 2012 but I love this layout.  The kids look so happy - such great memories!

Simple is Fun, Too

Sometimes, I go very basic.  Photos and a title, along with fun paper can be just enough!

I tend to split my pages into thirds - “A Walk in the Woods” uses patterned paper to separate about a third of the page.  My “Rock Star” reserves the center third for photos and title.

Lots of Flowers!

I do love adding flowers to a page!  I may have gone overboard here, but once I start, it is hard to quit!  I prefer solid colors on paper flowers but every now and then, a pattern can really compliment my photos.

And layers ... plenty of those, too.

A Trip to the Zoo

A trip to the zoo is always a good subject for scrapbook pages! I love to crochet so I made a pink flower to add to this page.

Animal embellishments were cut from felt.

And we finish the session with a good parade! I am getting caught up.

A Lovely Girl

And lovely, she is!  Ribbon is my very favorite scrapbook accessory.  Border punches are a close second!

Still Scrapbooking

I read a bible verse this morning - 1 Peter 3:18 - and it reminded me of how comforting it is to know that the one incredible sacrifice of God saves me over and over!  What a gift Faith is.  I couldn’t wait to add the verse to my lock screen.  And of course my pal the Portuguese Water Dog, had to be included!

One of my favorite people to scrapbook is my granddaughter.... here she is at four years ... a constant reminder of God’s love!

Water Color Flowers

My first attempt at water coloring.  I used water color paper, heat embossing elements, water-based markers, and the Hero Arts Daisy and Bug...
